As co-owner of Broue Pub Brouhaha on De Lorimier in Montreal, Marc Bélanger was looking for a solution to brew his own beer. Being a gypsy brewer for several years — as an itinerant brewer he took advantage of free production lines at other brewers — he had seen what worked in a brewery, but also realized the facilities were not being used optimally. That's when he thought of developing a brewing cooperative where facilities could be shared by several brewers in a collaborative spirit.
After months of preparation filled with one challenge after another, the first beers were brewed at MaBrasserie in October 2015. A month later, the cooperative's store was born, and in March 2016, the tasting room welcomed its first customers.
