I had a business lunch here a week ago. The food was excellent, the service attentive and the atmosphere was excellent for a private conversation. Frasciati is class act for a quite business or intimate meal. It's conveniently located in the downtown core, just half a block east of Yonge Street. I'll be back!
While visiting from Windsor, myself and another happened upon Frascati. From the overall appearance of the restaurant, it looked as though it'd definitely be worth a visit. How wrong we were. As we were a younger party (early 20's) we were treated like second class citizens by the wait staff. Service was slow and did little besides spew out the night's specials. Service was incredibly slow in comparison to that received by other restaurant patrons. To start, we ordered the bruschetta, which tasted as if it came from a bulk restaurant food supplier. In other words, not a hint of freshness and the distinct taste of packaged bruschetta. I ordered the veal parmigiana, expecting to receive at least a respectable portion. Instead, my plate consisted of some pasta and three measly and tiny, overcooked veal slices, only one of which actually having melted mozzarella over it. None of the veal shreds were breaded as described on the menu. The dish was drenched in a thin, salty sauce that didn't taste freshly made whatsoever. The sauce was poorly seasoned and had overly strong amounts of oregano in it and tasted nearly as if it were canned. My companion ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, which were apparently palatable. The meatballs themselves were tiny and did not taste fresh at all. Proper spaghetti and meatballs (aka. "Sunday Gravy") consists of a rich sauce with massive, fresh and wonderfully flavored meatballs. One warning sign I should have picked up on was that the wait staff offered pre-shredded/powdered Parmesan cheese. A good Italian restaurant will have the wait staff grate blocks of fresh Parmigiano Reggiano cheese with hand-held graters to a guest's tastes. As a Windsor resident, I've been exposed to truly excellent Italian cuisine due to our large Italian community. I came to Frascati expecting a little taste of home and was sorely disappointed.
A decent italian restaurant. Found the food to be a little basic with the meal I had. The orders I had were literally exactly what was listed, so while it was still good, just not that extra bit of flavour you expect from eating outside of your own kitchen.
Having been here many times i recently had a dinner party of 26 people at Frascatis..the meal was excellent, the food hot, service nicely paced and attentive and the best Tiramisu many had ever eaten. The atmosphere was warm and the management made everything run smoothly. This place is a 'hidden gastronomic gem' on Elm Street right behind the Delta Chelsea hotel in central Toronto.( the BEST bruschetta with goat cheese on super crusty bread..of anywhere I've eaten!!
Excellent restraunt. Food, Servie & atmosphere were excellent. Will definately visit again!
