Service Is Everthing

My first visit to The Feathery was almost 4 years ago, along with my brother and sister in law, whom live in St. Catharines. Everytime I come back for a visit we find our selves back dining there. However, my experiences there this past week were a hit and miss on service. Last night we actually asked to have our server changed as the waitress that was assigned to us us terrible. We were luck to have Lucinda, whom served us several times this week, sometimes twice a day......yes my family lives close. I look forward to dining there again upon my return to St Catharine s in March of 2013.

This was my first time at the Feathery Pub. My friend has been here many times before and loves it. She was the reason we all decided to go here last night. Three of us arrived first. We were promtly greeted at the door and told that we could sit where ever we'd like. We decided on a spot that only seated four and figured we would just squeeze in because we didn't want to bother the servers and ask if we could push another table together. Once we were seated the server was over to ask us how many of us there would be so she could bring us menus and got us drinks right away. When she found out there would be five of us she was very accomidating and without us asking her she offered to pull another table over or bring us an extra chair to cap the end. That was nice. After a bit when our friends hadn't arrived yet she checked on us again to see if we'de like anything like an appetizer while we waited. She was nice and attentive. Our other guests arrived and she was quick to come over to get them started with drinks as well. She checked on us in a bit but we still needed more time because everything sounded so good on the menu! And according to our friend who has been here before everything is good! lol I decided on the Perogies. They were served with fried onions and bacon and a side of sour cream. Mmm! So good! One friend got the Calabrese Bruchetta. She said she really enjoyed it. A couple friends each got a pizza and shared so they could try both because it was so hard to decide. They got the Perogie Pizza and the Tuscan Garden Pizza. The pizzas both came out looking nice and golden brown and yummy. They said they enjoyed the Pizzas. And our other friend got the British Club Sandwhich and upgraded her side to Sweet potato Fries. You know its good when it comes out looking perfectly golden brown and there's SOOO many Sweet Potao Fries and there's not a bite left in the end lol ( we find most places charge you to upgrade to Sweet Potato Fries but it's never really worth the money when you see the small portion size they give you but at the Feathery I was impressed with the porttion size! Definately worth the upgrade!) We all really enjoyed the food. When we first walked in, the place wasn't what we had expected, but by the time we left it had totally grown on us and we really enjoyed the atmosphere! And our server was nice and attentive. Overall a great first experiance and I will definately be back to try all the other things on the menu that looked and sounded sooo good!

The food was tasty, the service great and the atmosphere pleasant. I will definitely be going back. Hopefully next time around we won't be charged for drinks not ordered.

The food is delicious, the atmosphere is perfect and the staff are very polite and efficient. We always come back for the nachos! Sometimes the homemade soup of the day is amazing as well.

Best meat pie I've ever had!

I don't think that I have ever been so happy to eat in a pub! my boyfriend and I where just looking for a bite to eat before grocery shopping and stopped in. I ordered the Steak and Mushroom Guinness Pie, and I don't think I've been so pleased. Service was a little slow with the drinks but the food was great and my boyfriends steak was good as well. Order the grilled veggies as a side, they where awesome as well. Portions are more than generous to top it off :)

Fantastic Bar Food PLUS

love this place! Giant stuffed Yorkie...mmmmm soo good. food is hot, fresh, restaurant is clean, BATHROOM is nice (for a refreshing change) staff are super friendly and the beer is cold. Very cozy warm decor with bench seats booths tables or bar stools make for a very relaxing atmosphere. Almost like sitting at home with book cases lamps and warm colors. Really great place, Id recommend it to anyone! beware of wait times during busy seasons though, sometimes you can wait a long while for your food but busy means good so give it a try! it's worth the wait if you happen to go when its packed.

Great Pub

Great spot for lunch and dinner. I've eaten here often and have tried something different everytime. It's always good!!! Great selection of pub classics and they have a good selection of beers well. It is one of, if not, the cleanest pubs I've been to.

Absolutely incredible food, good draught selection

Kind of hard to select "Best Meal Ever" (5 stars) but I give the food 5 stars anyway because it's truly fantastic. The Scottish chef has a great palate. I can't recommend strongly enough staying away from the boring typical apps like poppers that are always frozen, go with the homemade apps like the delicious spinach dips. The pies and boxties are to die for, deliciously rich sauces and portions to quell the heartiest appetites. If your beer is flat, it's likely the end of the keg. The bar has never had a problem swapping a pint for me the odd time I've gotten the dregs. Nice selection including one of my favourites, Bass. The only problem I have with the Feathery is the televisions. Why do so few people know how to set up their TV's? They have a fairly decent large screen on the back wall, but you can't watch anything on it because they don't pay for HDTV feed, and the aspect ratio is always stretched so that hockey players look like some new species of humans that are 2ft wide and 3ft tall. Shame. I'd go there more often for sports events to increase their bar sales if they'd get the TV's right. But for lunch or dinner? The food is the highlight for me, never had a bad meal there. Oh yeah, nachos are brilliant also.

We were there for dinner last week...a spur of the moment get together and we had a great time.... our service was friendly and on top of everything we needed.... the food was great and the beer was cold...what else can you ask for?

Worst Server Ever

My friends and I go to The Feathery often enough, usually for get together's like birthdays. I went last September for my birthday, and we had a great time. Went Saturday evening on May 1st, for my friends Birthday. There were 9 of us, 8 of us eating, then the 9th person showed up a little later. We had the worst waitress in the world. She was rude, forgot orders, thru things down on the table, and never gave us anything in a reasonable amount of time. It was so bad that anytime we wanted anything to drink we would have to go up to the bar and order it. The server we had was so rude, she would come to the table take 2 peoples orders then come back 20 mins later and then ask if we were ready to order food, when we were sitting there for over a half hour with our menus closed waiting to order. My boyfriend ordered a beer, and he waited 30 to 40 mins for it. The birthday boys girlfriend ordered a water and waited 30 mins for it. When the server did come by our table, she would ignore us, and when she was there to grab plates, she grabbed one right out of my hands with chicken wings still on it. The worst part was, tip was included, and none of us thought she deserved a tip because she was so rude and even insulted the birthday boy. She told him he was drinking wussy drinks, and when he asked what would you suggest, she snapped on him. When we were joking around, she snapped and said that we were cut off, when half of us didn't even have a drink and the others only had a couple. We couldn't even have a good laugh and fun to celebrate a birthday. I can tell you, we aren't planning on going back unless we get a different server. The one guy we usually get is the best server in the place, the others, especially the one we got (who looked like Lucy from Charlies Angels) was the worst server in the world. Here's hoping she gets fired for her lousy excuse as a waitress.

Excellent food! Great service! Great atmosphere! Will visit agani, and again and again!!! The restaurant is clean, well staffed and service was prompt. Food was hot and fresh! A+

I just had lunch there today and as always had a...

I just had lunch there today and as always had a great meal....We told our server that we had a limited time as we were on our lunch hour she made sure she stayed on top of our orders and asked the kitchen to put a rush on our meals. We were thoroughly impressed by the service, speed and taste! Thanks we will be back!!!!!

3 Strikes, You're Out. 5 Strikes, You're Just...

3 Strikes, You're Out. 5 Strikes, You're Just Insulting Me. Came in for a drink and lunch, and asked to sit on the patio. After 15 minutes I walked in to find that they had forgotten we were out there. I ordered our drinks, and my beer showed up flat. They said the CO2 cylinder had run out. We foolishly stayed and ordered food. My steak and guiness pie showed up without any steak in it at all, and that was it. I told the waitress we were leaving without drinking our drinks, and without paying. The second time a group of friends dragged us there. After making us wait 15 minutes to get drinks, they screwed up my drink order. To be honest, I feel bad for the girls who work there, as it seems they are CONSTANTLY under staffed and poorly managed. Do NOT go to this place, even for a drink.

The first time I went here with my friends it was strictly for a drink or two. The second time we visited we ordered food. I got the Garlic loaf, which wasn't too bad. The whole loaf was soaked in the melted garlic butter and the top was covered in what looked like burnt garlic. Overall the meal was good, and I would return.

Our meals were fantastic...by accident one of the meals was brought out wrong but was corrected right away...we were there almost the entire night! Loved everything

Good times

My group and I went in later in the evening around 8pm on Saturday night and had some dinner...planned on only staying a couple hours and then heading out to a bar...but then a band came on and we ended up staying until around 1am since we were having a blast! Greats eats and beers!

Great time

We always have great service and food. Curry is my favorite dish...tried the boxty this time and it was delicious also. Be back soon

Average Pub

The Feathery Pub was a nice expierence but overall there are better pub style eateries for the price. My bill was about 38 dollars for a pint of beer, an entree and an app so about average price. The salad was ok but lacked many toppings. The dressing was very good and homemade as well. The app of deep fried pickles were delish but was served with ordinary ranch dressing that didnt really accompany the dish well. The best part of my meal was the chicken and vegetable curry boxty. The filling and sauce was very tasty and I would recommend that dish for a new patron of the restaurant.

It Has Changed

We had visited The Feathery Pub many times in the past and even brought family and friends there for dinner. I always order the Chicken Curry dish and even though it wasnt always consistent in spicyness this last time we visited it was just plain awful. The curry sauce was changed completely and very, very bland. The vegetables consisted of carrots and more carrots. My husbands steak was not a good piece of meat. The steak had always been really tender and flavourful. This last time it was a cheaper cut of meat and tough as nails. I am really disappointed. We noticed some of the old staff is not there anymore and that is also disappointing. I hope they get back on track soon!
