An authentic British experience awaits at this family-style Scarborough tavern, where regulars convene and the pub-style nosh is always tasty. All worn dark wood and red velvet, this comfy spot is an oasis for suburbanites starved for a taste of pub culture. Limey favourites like fish on a bun and steak and kidney pie are hearty and easily washed down with a pitcher of draft. Lots of daily specials, like Tuesday's half-price ribs, attract regulars in droves. Euro soccer games play on the screens and kids are always welcome.more...See more text
The place to be for a fabulous fun Friday evening with friends. A really great, well behaved, well dressed mixed mature crowd. The service is prompt, honest and friendly.
The Queen Victoria Pub is close to our work so we have been there 3 times. It look lovely inside. It does have the look of an authentic British pub. The new owner have really done a good job renovating this place. Everyone is very friendly. Service is very fast. OK, that is the good, now the bad....
I have to question weather the owner are really British. The "British Burger" has salsa as a topping. Not very british! How about fried onion and sharp cheddar. The 2 roast beef sandwiches on the menu both have garlic spread on the buns...very strong garlic spread. OK but didn't belong. The beef and mushroom pie in a yorkshire pudding shell sounds great but the meat is tough then yesterday I found out why. I think they are using the leftover roast beef.
I ordered the roast beef dinner. What arrived was a HUGH hunk of dry, overcook, tough beef with ALL the fat cut off. And not even any yorkshire pudding!
One person was not very hungry so they odered the Nachos (which were on the menu as an appitizer) It was an entire pack of Nacho chips with very little topping.
The soup of the days are not very good, watery and not fresh tasting.
The battered fish is good but the chips are the frozen battered kind . There was no dressing on the coleslaw and the tartar sauce has a funky taste.
It could be a great place, they just need a Chef.
