Horrible service but great food. Been going for a decade and always enjoyed eating in but I don't recommend ordering out as those on the phone are very rude and condescending.
I've been going to Yangtze for years. It's definitely the best Chinese food you're going to have. Their "midnight snack" menu is excellent, but I usually end up ordering dim sum a la carte due to how much I like it. Definitely recommend you try this one out.
We were seated by the window at the end: by the time the dimsum carts reached us, there's not much to pick. All food dishes were luke warm especially the congee. Tired of waiting we ordered a noodle dish and the rice noodle was not cooked properly: still hard. It was not until 45 mns later that the carts got hot food reaching us: it was too late...The dumpling wrapping was thick and hard: look like it's from mass production frozen stuff. It was the worst experience....Do their waiters know how to smile? Looks like no one is in charge of controlling the quality of the food there. In one of the dumpling there's a couple of hair and we mentioned it to the waiter: just a nod ...Everything was bad....It used to be one of the best restaurant in Ottawa.
I have come here many times and almost always order the combination dinners which usually include spring rolls, soup, fried rice and a couple of entrees. The portions are pretty huge. 3 of us shared a dinner for 2. However, lately the quality of the food has gone down a bit. The chicken was very salty this time around and the beef didn't taste too fresh. I'm still willing to go back and give them another chance!
Great dim sum place, has all you could want, good service, good food and good price!

A Chinatown institution, the sprawling, bustling Yangtze has been in business more than 30 years. It must be doing something right. When it’s busy, which is much of the time, it buzzes with a mixed clientele of Asian and non-Asian diners. With both Cantonese and spicier cuisine, there’s something for every taste. Gluten-free diets are accommodated and the place offers seasonal specials. Try the Hunan beef or, for something a tad different, fried lobster with ginger and onions. Delivery is available until 11 p.m.

In fact, loyal regulars come in with their children and then grandchildren for the popular cart-based dim sum lunch and Cantonese dinner dishes. Yangtze serves one of the flakier egg tarts in town and there are cooks dedicated to preparing the fresh shrimp dumpling har gow every day. For many in Ottawa, Yangtze served us our first taste of yang chow fried rice and beef with rice noodles. Tuck into a table with a lazy–Susan and practise those chopstick skills.
