Geneva Crêpe Café did a marvelous marketing job by putting a 20% off coupon in the magazines that were handed out during Queen's frosh week this year. After reviewing the sumptuous menu online, we visited for the first time this week and will definitely be back. The service was good, the portions were great, the modifications we asked for were accommodated and it was delightful to watch owner Genevieve preparing our food. Everything was plated beautifully and as delicious as it looked. The Classic crepe was creamy and decadent. The Bombay crepe was sweet and savoury and the Lemon Zest crepe was light, zingy and very lemony as we had hoped. Well worth the price!
I went there with 2 other girls. It was during the summer and on a weekend. They had an a woman singing on their patio. She was amazing to listen to...then our crepes came. So delicious, mouthwatering and so many varieties. The atmosphere of this place felt like a night on the town in Paris! Let the wine flow!
Finally took my girlfriend to this place for lunch today, and was quite impressed. The atmosphere was very cheerful and relaxing, and we sat at a bar facing out a window, which was great for a sunny day. The service was quick and courteous (including a friendly "thanks" from the owner on the way out), although it was not very busy when we went, so your mileage may vary. I ordered the chicken curry crepe (really a wrap made with a crepe), which came stuffed with chicken and just the right amount of "sauce" to hold together without running out of the crepe between bites. It was very flavourful and well-balanced, and came with a cold spicy chutney on the side that paired nicely with the curry. The menu claims that this dish is their specialty, and it definitely didn't disappoint. My girlfriend ordered the strawberry delight crepe. I tried a bite, and it was also very good. The strawberries (cooked soft) featured strongly, and it was just sweet enough without being sugary. Overall I'd say that the food here is definitely very well thought-out, unlike many breakfast joints where you basically get a crepe with a fruit salad dumped on top. On top of that, the presentation of the food is excellent (I wish I'd had a camera with me), which lends extra polish to the meal. I will absolutely visit again, and would call this cafe a must-try for anyone in downtown Kingston who loves food. (As a side note, you can order off-menu here, so if they have the ingredients, they'll make whatever you like.)
Typical "cravings" outing for my friends and I. We started off the evening with our favourite dishes at Silver Wok and slowly meandered our way up Princess in search of desert. We had contemplated bubble tea but saw this cute little place on our way up. We stepped inside to the delicious smells of crepe. Feeling rather full we settled on some ice cream smoothies - typical fresh fruit smoothie with a chunk of any ice cream of your choice thrown in. My friend had something mango with Tiger Tail ice cream in it, I had berries and vanilla (boring, right?). The smoothies were tasty and reasonably priced (compared to Eat A Peach in the KMCSC) but we had to wait a ridiculously long time for it. There were several people in line, but how long does it take to make smoothies? Overall a good experience, will visit again when a crepe or smoothie craving hits.
