+ Good Food, Lot of seating - Price Gouging of the Wings, No Parking Lot This is a large restaurant, great for large groups Lots of tables and TV screens. Very noisy environment, even with just one other table of girls night out. There is no free parking for the restaurant. You either need to pay at one of the lots or at one of the meters. We went on a Wednesday evening so thankfully the meter was free after 6pm. But be aware meters are hard to get. Our waitress was new and didn't know too much about the menu. Almost every question I asked was met with an "I don't know". Oh well. The menu was about 3 pages and had a decent selection, although it had no pictures of any of the dishes. Prices seemed reasonable, especially for the sandwiches. The wing prices are deceiving (more on that later). We ordered the Steak entree and 2lbs of Wings. The steak was a little fatty but grilled nicely. Mashed potatoes were cooked well though a small portion. I had the soup instead of salad which came late with the meal. The waitress did apologize for forgetting to bring it to me earlier. It was the cheeseburger soup which had some good flavour. The wings were cooked well being nice and crispy on the outside. One pound was Texas Gold which tasted like a hot honey garlic, and the other pound was Cajun that had a perfect blend of spices on them. When the bill came, that is when the confusion set in. 2lbs of wings are $16.99 on the menu. But, because we got two flavours instead of one, they charged us the one pound price of $9.99 times two. I have "never" experienced this and found that pricing policy a cheap way for them to get some extra revenue. So if you order 2 or 3 pounds of wings, that price on the menu is only if you get all of them with the same sauce. Of course nowhere on the menu does it say that nor did the waitress tell us up front. So overall, not a overly great experience, and not a terrible one either. I would only hope the next time we go back that our waitress is better informed and we are told properly how they price menu items.
I went here with 10 coworkers for a good-bye party. They were very accomodating for such a large group, even though we didn't all arrive at the same time. The menu had a good variety, regular pub foods, plus lots of pastas and other things. I had a hard time making a decision. My gnocchi was really good, and everyone else liked their dinners too. The waitress we had was really friendly and prompt. We spilled a few drinks and she didn't seem upset at all, just laughed with us about it. The atmosphere is just like a typical sports bar, nothing that stood out to me, but it was clean and looked nice. I will definately be going back, would like to bring my boyfriend since we have a hard time finding restaurants with meals we both like at them.
Walked out. Went in and after two minutes was finally seated. The place was practically empty so I don't know what the wait was about. Once seated I asked for a moment to review the menu for drinks, and it must have been ten minutes before the server returned. I ordered a drink for myself and my girlfriend, and a plate of Nachos. As soon as the waitress walked away I asked my girlfriend why I even bother coming to this place. With the restaurant practically empty the server still couldn't get her act together. I ended up cancelling the order and walking out. This is the second time I've had service like this at Tailgate Charlie's, and I'll be sure not only to never return, but to discourage others from attending.
Monday night is Chicken Wing night, my twice a month indulgence. The place is comfortable with free and unlimited salted peanuts to crack at your table then sweep onto floor...luv being a kid twice a month also. Wings are without exception the Best in town or for that matter as good as the best in Buffalo. Great pints of cold frothy Draft to cool things down a bit while noshing on the wings. Fries are fresh cut and the very generous side Greek Salad is loaded with fresh greens cucumber, tomatoe, kalamata olives & lots of Feta. Well balanced and interesting menu and the prices are very good. The portions, on other menu items I've tried, use to be more generous however are still ample. The Bartender server is efficient, personable, easy on the eyes and one of the best in town. Floor servers can be unfocused. Prices are great making this the best Road House food in the city.
Called prior to arrival to make sure that the game would be playing, waitress said that it would be, asked her to double check as it was on an unusual channel, she supposedly checked and told me it was on. Traveled here and was dissapointed to find out that they did not have the appropriate channel. Left immediately. I would never go back to a place where they really do not know what they are talking about.
