Our Beginnings Born and raised in the Halifax area Ken Barnard moved to Toronto in the 60's to further his education in the funeral profession. He did this by attending Humber College and graduated with his Ontario Embalmers and Funeral Directors license. Ken continued to work in the oldest funeral home in Toronto. Ken was employed with Bates & Dodds until 1986 and at that time returned to Nova Scotia with his family to start the funeral home in Bedford. A few years later our Sackville location was opened and then the third in Halifax. Ken Barnard was born in Halifax, as a child moved with his parents to Rockingham, then as a teen moved to Bedford where he lives now with Janet his wife of 35 years. Their daughter Brooke moved to Toronto for University and resides there still. Timothy, their son, works along side Ken and Janet in the business. T.K.
