Back in January 2009 siblings Heather and Christian Rankin hatched a plan to create something a little different in Halifax. A wine bar that was both informal yet special; social yet intimate.
For a great ambiance and a wonderful crowd...you have to check out Obladee! Their wine selection is great and the staff make you feel right at home. Go there with co-workers for a get together or impress your "first date" by bringing them to Obladee! Check them out!
An evening dedicated to good wine, good company and good charcuterie is time well spent. In Halifax, you’ll find few places better for that than Obladee. The ever-changing wine list in this intimate Barrington Street space is spectacular, and you can build your own charcuterie board. Your options on a given evening might include house-cured salmon and house-made pates, as well as Spanish jamon and cured Webber Farms sausage.
When you want food with your wine, rather than wine with your food, this is your destination. The decor is casually elegant, and most of the province’s wineries are represented, either by the glass or the bottle. The food is chosen for wine-friendliness – no difficult matches here – and consists mostly of cheese and charcuterie plates, both with a strong local presence. Try the flight of local whites, with or without the optional paired cheeses.
Wine is Obladee’s speciality. The wine list boasts countless options from all over the world, although the biggest selection is by the bottle and not by the glass. If you can’t decide, get a flight (a selection of three wines to try) accompanied by a cheese plate. It’s a really fun experience whether you’re super into wine, or just enjoying a night out with friends.
