Home to animals from around the world, the zoo is open year round. Its Karsten Discovery Centre features the daily Creature Feature program in which kids are introduced to the zoo’s unique and beautiful animals by knowledgeable zookeepers.

Take your group through the Zoomazing Race, a series of mental and non-strenuous physical challenges set in the landscape of the Calgary Zoo. Your team is provided with just one clue at a time and must complete the challenge or puzzle to move on to the next clue. Scores will be tallied and the winner announced at the end of the race (typically 2.5 hrs).

As the spring weather warms and the animals become more active, May long weekend is a great time to take part in the Calgary Zoo’s Behind the Scenes program. Animal facility tours include a close-up look at Sabari the rhino Saturday and Monday, the zoo's much-loved penguins Sunday and Monday as well as its giraffes all weekend long. Ticket prices vary and include general zoo admission. Call or book online. Spaces are limited, so book early! Hours: 9 am to 5 pm.
