Vancouver memorabilia shops for collectors and superfans

Coins, stamps, cards and more – this is where the action is for collectors in Vancouver. The folks at these stores have as much knowledge about their trade as you can fit in a human brain; give them your attention and you’ll get a real lesson. Most importantly, they’re all fair and honest.

All Nations Stamps & Coins

1
5630 Dunbar St, Vancouver, BC V6N 1W7

This is one of the very best places to go for rare collectibles, and not just in Vancouver. Located in Dunbar, All Nations is a jam-packed treasure trove filled with much more than stamps and coins (although there are certainly plenty of those here too). Owner Brian Grant Duff brings decades of experience to the table; he’s friendly, honest and a great guy to talk to.

Tazmanian Comics

2
3618 Hastings St E, Vancouver, BC V5K 2A9

Comics, gaming, vinyl, toys – if you’re willing to cash in or geek out, this buy-and-sell spot is the place to be. Taz Comics has been in business for more than 25 years, and boy have they accumulated a lot of stuff. For that Wolverine Secret Origins from ’87, the latest issue of Batman & Robin, or that fondly remembered action figure from childhood, you should check this place out – they probably have that hard-to-find item in stock.

Golden Age Collectables Ltd

3
856 Granville St, Vancouver, BC V6Z 1K3

Another comic shop, Golden Age Collectibles also sports a plethora of titles. Shop here for newsstand comics (including back issues) as well as rare books. They have a rare comics section that’s truly one to beat, and the staff sure do know what they’re talking about when you approach them for help while digging through the inventory. Japanese manga is another specialty, and the shop is well stocked with graphic novels as well as toys, poster and other memorabilia.

Pro Sports Cards & Novelties

4
2646 Hastings St E, Vancouver, BC V5K 1Z6

For sentimental, fetish or cash value, this is the place to beat for sports cards in Vancouver. The shop offers collectible cards of all kinds, but specializes in those of the athletics variety. There’s also a considerable amount of memorabilia in store, and owner Wally can hold forth at length about the trade; he’s got all the acumen you’d need for a business like this, and he’s a nice guy to boot.

Chantou International Coin & Stamp

5
6537 Fraser St, Vancouver, BC V5X 3T4

The first thing you’d ask of a collectible shop is that the staff know their business. That’s what you get above all else from Chantou, which has been around for about 25 years. That’s a lot of time to gather stock, and boy, have they ever. Miscellaneous memorabilia includes banknotes, trading cards and some gorgeous jewellery.

J&M Coin & Jewellery Ltd

6
1654 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC V5N 2S1

It’s all about the money here: specimen coins, collector coin sets, Canadian banknotes, and even gold and silver bars! Staff here have more than 40 years’ experience, and they’re friendly and helpful. J&M buys, sells, trades and is active in online auctioning. They also have their own online auction site at www.collectible-trade.com.

F v H Stamps Auctions & Supplies

7
102-340 Cordova St W, Vancouver, BC V6B 2V3

No coins, comics or jewels here, but when it comes to stamps, this spot is hard to beat. Located in the heart of Gastown, FvH is a buy-and-sell business that trades in stamps from all around the globe, but stresses merchandise from Canada, Britain and the Commonwealth. Like many of their competitors, the shop also holds weekly auctions.
