Enjoy great wines and gastronomy during Happy November

As we come to the end of the year, it’s time again for Joyeux Novembre, now in its fourth edition. This annual celebration of wine and food, put on by the SAQ, sees 300 wine growers and 150 restaurants offering a combined 3,700 products for your enjoyment. Here is a glimpse of what awaits you.

Place des Arts

Come out to the Salon Urbain at Place des Arts on the 29th of October to participate in the "à votre santé" evening. The benefit event, which consists of a grand cru champagne tasting - under the joint patronage of our beloved Quebec comedian Dominique Michel - aims to raise funds for the future Centre intégré de cancérologie of the HMR (Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont). An individual ticket can be purchased for $300.

Mini Marché Bonsecours

From the 30th of October to the 2nd of November, the Salon des importations privées 2015 opens its doors from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm. For the sum of $15, you can peruse more than 2,000 different wines and enjoy lively discussions with nearly 150 wine growers. Normand Laprise (Toqué! and Brasserie T) will be at the event. At the end of the month, from 27 to 29 November, la Fête des vins du Québec (the Quebec Wine festival) invites you to taste our local wines alongside artisan cheesemakers and other local fare.

On the 30th and 31th of October, those with deep pockets will want to go to Hilton Montréal Bonaventure for the Montréal Passion Vin, another benefit for the HMR cancer centre. The event offers the opportunity to taste great wines enjoy a great banquet prepared by chefs including Claude Pelletier and Hubert Marsolais (Club Chasse et Pêche, Le Filet, and Le Serpent) and Jérôme Ferrer (Europea).

Halls d'Expositions de la Place Bonaventure

Over 200 wine growers and distillers from around the world will meet for your enjoyment at la Place Bonaventure on the 6 and 7 of November for La grande dégustation de Montréal. This year, Spanish wine and bubbly is highlighted, with over 1,200 products offered for your tasting enjoyment. Tickets cost $15 the same day, and each tasting coupon costs $1.

Institut de Tourisme et d'Hôtellerie du Québec

What better way to build your appreciation of fine wine than having instructors from Quebec’s Institute of Tourism and Hospitality offer you two master classes: one on sparkling wines (3 November) and another on “The new Spain” (3 November). Register on the ITHQ website. Each class costs $55.
