An engineer by trade, Katayoun Khatami began her career as a manager in the pharmaceutical industry. “But I have always felt this need in me to be in control of my professional life, to have my own business,” says Katayoun.
That is why, when the company she worked for closed her department, Katayoun decided to go on her own adventure. “I had the option to move to another position, or leave,” she recalls. “I thought it was the perfect time for me to pave my own way, so I chose to leave the industry.”
Katayoun took some time to think of a business she'd be excited to take on and decided on event planning. “I have always been a people person,” she says. “I love people and I connect well with anyone, in addition to being an experienced project manager. So I trained in that field. It confirmed that I had the required skills and, above all, the passion for this kind of business, which led me to launch Unikevent in 2012.”
