Entrepreneurs in the retail industry, Yvon Goyette and his partner Jean Monté saw an opportunity in 1990 when Le Marché du Livre, a local bookstore, went up for sale. They acquired the store, and then began a long history of buying and running successful bookstores. In 1998, the two detected an opportunity when they discovered that the building situated on the corner of Mount-Royal Avenue and St-Hubert Street was for sale, along with the bookstore housed within it. They made it theirs and, putting their knowledge of the business of books to work, changed the shop’s vocation to the sale of high-quality second-hand books.
"They wanted to offer quality books at a fraction of the original price and felt this was the place to do it," says Karoline Leblanc, who’s managed the store for over a decade. Just a few years later, Bouquinerie du Plateau would become the reference for used books on the Plateau, attracting floods of shoppers and book lovers looking to find quality used books at great prices.
Très bon choix de livres, généralement en très bon état ! Les prix sont excellents. J'ADORE cette bouquinerie ! C'est de loin ma préférée à Montréal! Personnel très attentionné!
