Former graphic design student David Boisvert worked for four years in a copper smelter where he perfected the art of working with various machinist tools. Although he loved his job, as time passed he realized he was neglecting his artistic side. "I felt the need to make something."
David began working with wood to create custom furniture for himself. Eventually he ended up with a large inventory of items that he had made for fun. "I had no choice but to start selling to make space," he recalls.
In March 2015, the artist decided to leave his job and pursue his dream full time by opening Hamster. How did David come up with the name? That was sort of how he felt after a day in the workshop when his hair and beard would be filled with wood chips and like a furry little hamster running on a wheel, the ideas would be spinning in his head.
