Ordered the $98 Lobster Sashimi for 2 set menu. Good portion, lobster served 2 ways, follow with Salad Bar, Soup and 2 Steaks. Service was great, no rushing you thru the courses, clears the table after each course. must be patient, waited 10-15mins for the sashimi, but you can head on to the salad bar to start up with some fruits and lettuce. Good variety of Vegs @ the salad bar. Finished off with their version of a funnel cake, topped off w ice cream.
Tenderloin made tender by soda powder and tasted gamey. French union soup no French could recognize - a few skinny pieces of deep fried onion deep fried in batter and a spoonful of melted cheese were served in a bowl and MSG in a tea pot was poured right at the table - instant noodle came to mind. Service was slow - took two and a half hours from start to finish and the restaurant was 25% full. Dishes were not served among guests at the same time. Some had to wait for their dishes while others had long finished their food. Worst was - we asked the waiter to do separate bills in secret so that we could pay for and surprise one of our friends. He totally blew it by coming over to the table and complaint that our orders were all messed up because we didn't ask for separate bills upfront and caused him much trouble. It was more embarrassing than surprising and everyone ended up paying their own bill. Best example in services and competence, the lack of.
Food is OK but overpriced. Service is terrible. The waiter even told me that I can't take away my leftover half bottle wine. Don't go there. You wont enjoy the time there.
The worse so called upscale retaurant I have ever visited...(and we all travel around the world and eat out a lot...) ....what a shame as the decor doesn't even make up for the more than very below average service.....food was in small portions, bland and nothing special. The waiters don't have professional customer service skills ! Our first waiter, Joe was very rude and pointed a finger at me and disrepectfully said "wait a minute !!" as I was asking for more bread and butter for my daughter. He served the table beside us first and didn't even ask us if we wanted bread or drinks. When I asked if we can order first as my daughter was hungry, before the rest of the party arrived, he frowned and hesitantly took our order, all throughout the evening he made me and the whole party extremely unwelcome and uncomfortable. We didn't get our food at the same time and waited 3 hours for all our food to arrive, some were already cold on arrival. When I launched a compalint to their manager Edwin he said that "I can wait while he finishes making the cappuncino for a guest and that guests typically arrive at the same time at 7 pm there, that is why I have to wait !" I told him re his rude waiter, and he said " he couldn't even control his own staff...and that this is comparable to his daughter over stepping on the accelerator in the car and him not having control over her ???! ..".and that the important thing is we enjoy the night "...(well we certainly were not enjoying.!) A simple " I am sorry, let me make that up to you," would have been better that his long winded explanation...he was making excuses for the poor service of his staff !...UNBELIEVABLE...I don't know who was worse the rude waiter or the manager ! It was very embarassing for our guests that were from out of town...what a disaster this place it is...it was painful to wine and dine there...so unprofessional..we went to the manager Edwin numerous times to remind him re the poor service..and where is the food and missing items we ordered...we just kept getting excuse upon excuse...SO UNPROFESSIONAL>>> WE WILL NEVER COME BACK THERE AGAIN AND WE WILL TELL ALL OUR OTHER FRIENDS AND FAMILY NOT TO COME THERE. This restaurant should re evaluate their business because it is a disgrace to Markham !
For $26.99 - $28.99 per entree, I'd rather go to McDonald's and buy myself an entire meal for $6 dollars and be more happy and satisfied. On the particular day I went (May 7th, 2011), they ran out of salad. As a substitution, they were going to give us "sweets" at the end of the dinner. We never got those "sweets". For almost $30 dollars a plate, we got an 8 oz. steak, 1 oversized boiled carrot, 1/3 of a potato, and a handful of alfalfa. I don't even think the meal itself would've been worth $10. What a waste of $100. The waiter didn't even know what a "root beer" was. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY.
I ordered the Sea Bass and it tasted like it was served on a layer of grease. Did not taste fresh. We also had the Funnel Cake which tasted like it was drenched in grease as well. What a waste of money. The only and last time Im eating here.
The steak should of been made in chilli. Dry and tasted like it was pre cooked. The only bright spot was the delicious oysters. I tried to make a deal with the price like it was pacific mall. Would not really recommend to try. Best spend your money on the keg steakhouse
Day and night is a great place for Filet Mignon, char-broiled to perfection, best kept pricing for Foie Gras, and seafoods. The set menu I ordered is $39.99 before tax, and serves a salad bar, a Lobster Bisque, half Nova Scotian Lobster weighed 2 pounds by weight in its whole, and an 8 oz. Filet Mignon steak, and ice cream with assortments of flavour you can choose. A great value for surf and terf dinner. Great red wine list from old world wines selection. Things I like to see changed. More variety for soups, such as seafood chowder, a better white wines selection, instead of just Chardonnay, may be a few Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, Canada, and Chile. The new white wines will allow all of us to enjoy the oyster selections they present, the rich taste of the west coast, and the brimy taste of the Atlantic coast oysters. Staff is friendly, my kids had a fantastic time, they enjoyed the food and never seen them eat so much, that is the reason that we keep coming back to this restaurant.
The Food: The steak is about the only thing they got right on the menu. Everything else was pretty bland. I agree with another reviewer that the salad bar was unimpressive, stocked with Kraft dressing. The lobster bisque was straight out of the can, with little to no lobster in it. The garlic butter shrimp were not bad actually, however there were only two of them and it was plated with garnish and items from the salad bar. The Service: Started out good, with friendly and attentive service every few minutes. Food moved relatively quickly out of the tiny kitchen, but it was obvious they couldn't keep up as more people filled the restaurant. A medium steak doesn't take more than 7 minutes (tops) to cook, so waiting a good 30 minutes after appetizers leave the table is unacceptable at this price point. Overall, I'm not going back even though it's literally walking distance from where I live.
Service was great, I usually goes every couple of months for the last 4 years. The portion got smaller over the years but food is still good overall. Service is great always. Friendly staffs. Asian style steakhouse.
A pretty decent local Steak House. The prices are not too bad with the set menu options but individual entrees off the menu are quite pricy considering that it is a neigbourhoood restaurant. It has a very local and oriental twist to it because of the area and it shows on the menu as well. The set menu almost replicate the dinner for one or two combo in a Chinese restaraunt. I guess it works in this neigbourhood.
the price doesn't match the restaurant at all. The food quality is down cheap and typical oriental-ish trying to be western. The steaks are okay. The rest.. forget it. Just not worth the money at all. The salad bar ?? u gotta be joking... typical kraft dressing ?? lol.
