Celeste Shirley is the owner of The Yoga House, an enchanting in-house yoga studio that doubles as a bed and breakfast. Overlooking a beautiful ravine, this relaxing oasis is a sanctuary for people who love nature. If home is where the heart is, then Celeste is already there. “Yoga is like a prayer: each breath is a hymn to the sacred body of the universe," she says. "This affects the bodies around you. Not only does your body eventually become more peaceful - you will become a peace contagion for those in your environment, including relationships with your partner, family, workplace and community."
Very early in her yoga practice, Celeste noticed the physical, emotional and intellectual effects yoga was having on her. “My disposition was changing. I was less intense. My back pain was gone. I had this different awareness of the body I didn’t have before.” This body intelligence continues to have a positive effect on her life. “At 50, I have way more flexibility than I did when I was 15. The more you practice, the more flexible you become. I’m waiting to see what happens at 90.” To say that yoga plays an important role in Celeste’s life would be an understatement. “To teach this, you have to live this. What I do is actually a practice of what I live.”
