Went there to celebrate with old friends. We use to have all of our special occasions at this place, but after this night we resolved to not go again. The cuts of steak were just terrible. They were cooked the way that we asked, they got that right - but we were leaving 30-40% of our steak on the plate because it was inedible - just too much grizzle and fat. It was a first for me to send a steak back to the kitchen, but I took encouragement from the rest of my party and even the waitress that it would be safe. The replacement for my baseball steak that came out had even more grizzle - it was disgusting. Not to let it ruin my night, I reasoned that between the two steaks full of grizzle I had consumed enough meat to constitute a single quality cut. Talk about compromise. The prices of the steaks have gone up too - which means that if you have paid $30 for a steak and have to leave 40% of it on the plate because it is grizzle - then you have overspent $12. The other food and bread bowl was excellent. The bar still makes the best Daiquiris anywhere. I would return for the bar, but never for steaks.
They dont skimp on the meat and they buy the best cuts. The order is exactly what you tell them it should be. As always you come out full. Waitress was gorgeous and had a nice body. The wine was really not that expensive. The food itself added up tho. The wait was a little long tho.
Pretty good, we enjoyed our meal!
I've eaten at many "Keg's" over the years, but I must say that my experience at the Mansion location was the best. First off, the atmosphere is unique, as it is in the mansion. The food was great, had a perfectly cooked steak, great potatoes too. Their caesar salad is nothing amazing, but nice. Great cocktails, although maybe slightly overpriced, but the service and the atmosphere make up for that. Nice desserts...not homeade I don't think, but great and fresh nonetheless.
The Steaks are good here but I really think the price can be lowered.
Hands down, the absolute best service I have EVER had, and the food isn't to shabby either! We've perfected the most delicious steaks at home, but this is one place that I would return to again and gladly pay the price for theirs. The escargot appetizer is amazing too! I ordered a new pear sparkling wine beverage (my description is lacking) and it was so light and refreshing! Go to this place! What are you waiting for?
Have eaten here many times everything here is always excellent, for sure the best of all the Keg"s.Be prepared to spend some money but a place you don"t want to pass on.
The Keg Mansion on Jarvis is one of my most favorite places to take a gal for a special dinner. It is incredibly great food offerings with atmosphere and service to match. In fact I cannot think of any place that offers better value for a night out (well under a couple of hundred bucks with tip for a feast for two including drinks too). We need more locations and Ill tell you its sometimes hard to get a table here. They are very busy with a greatly loyal base of fans. I recommend the shrimp cocktail and prime rib with lobster tail - its all especially well done to your liking! Michael Chessman
This is our 2nd time dining here. The first time we enjoyed a fabulous meal, this time, however, the meal was horrible. I ordered the Mushroom Chicken in Balsamic sauce. The chicken was overdone and dried out on the outside. I do not like to return any meals to the kitchen, but this one was completely inedible. My guest ordered prime rib with lobster. The lobster was overdone; the prime rib, although on the thin side was perfect. When I received my replacement meal, the chicken was stil dried out on one side. The hostess then came over and suggested it was probably the grill. I told her, no, it was probably the chicken; perhaps it is frozen? Either way, I thought she was on the defensive side and on the argumentive side. She did offer us dessert on the house. She felt bad that I had not had dinner, but at this point it would have been rather uncomfortable for me to eat alone since my guest had finished his meal and also, I had lost my appetite. Besides, I wasn't entirely famished at that point since we had shared in the complimentary roll and crab meat, parmassean & spinache dip with tostitoes. For dessert we had the Miners Pie (can't remember full name) - it was ice-cream cake with chocolate & caramel drizzle with almonds. It was nicely presented and not too sweet. We also sampled the 3 shooter sized desserts and chose the Banana/Caramel, Cherry Cheesecake & Carrot Cake. The cherry cheesecake was awful and the carrot cake was okay. Banana/caramel was the best of all 3. What a disappointing meal :(
The Keg Mansion is absolutley the best restaurant ever. It is beautiful, with impeccable service, and great food. It is better than all the other kegs with the same price. I actually had someone tell us the send the best servers and cooks to this one. The french onion soup was amazing. The steaks were all done to perfection. I have never had to send anything back at this restaurant. Anyone would love the atmosphere and food here.

Mushrooms Neptune have been a Keg staple for time immemorial, and with good reason. These tasty little buttons, stuffed with Swiss and cream cheese, sour cream, garlic, onions, crab and shrimp will detonate your taste buds in the most pleasing of ways.

Whether it’s a business tête-à-tête or a date-night rendezvous, feasting on sumptuous steak in this historic mansion will feel like a privilege. Indulge in prime cuts like herb-buttered sirloin, blue-cheese-crusted filet mignon or New York strip loin topped with fun options like goat cheese and pecans.

The prominent Massey family owned the Jarvis Street mansion back in the early 1990s and there have been a number of accounts suggesting that some family members are still residing there. Ghostly children can also be heard running and playing on the upper floors and in the kitchen and an apparition of the family’s former maid has been spotted hanging from a noose above the main foyer in the restaurant. Ask the staff to see a binder detailing the frightening occurrences at the restaurant.
