Cheap but still overpriced food. Second and last disappointment as service was again bad at a level that we felt they dont want us in the restaurant. After food arrived, pitas was cold (expected as we could see the piles of pitas on a not busy Wednesday ready to served getting cold) but the actual surprise was the cold meat in the pitas. Pork and chicken in pitas was colder than room temperature for a wired reason. The best is the refuse to replace it for a warmer one with cheap excuses

I used to like coming here and over years brought lots of people. It's changed for the worst unfortunately. Old and hard pita. Low service levels... waited 15 mins to get menu. Quality of food went way low. Wait staff barely speaks English. And to top it off...dirty plates! Last time going here.

Food was okay... but the service was horrible. I have never been served by a team of rude wait staff in my life. I will not be going back!

I have had a most unfortunate experience at Messini Authentic Gyros on Danforth Avenue in Toronto. I was dining with a disabled friend whose medical accommodation requires that she elevate her leg .The manager blamed my friend for not indicating that she required an accommodation even though it was clear that she has a physical disability. It is clear that Messini is not an establishment willing to accommodate the disabled. I believe that Messini has no regard for the Ontario Disability Act.

I really enjoyed their food, if you like Doner Kebob or Torki Kebob(Kebob Torki) you will enjoy your experience in here. The other good thing is the openning hours which is t till 4:00a.m on weekends; so if you get hungry after a party or club, etc you almost find no other places to go except this one. Prices are really good almost 4-5 dollar per order or more depends on what you order. Sandwiches are BIG so don't get fool by the price and it comes with french fries inside sandwiches. Try the Greek Potato Appetizer, and mix sandwiches. chicken Club is good too, and since there is 4 pieces I normally share it with my husband.

When we first got to the resturant there was...

When we first got to the resturant there was confusion between the line for sitting down and the take out line. Both were popular, but i think the seating guy was new. Once this was sorted out, we were seated quickly, and menu's given. Water was delivered and orders taken. The food came out quickly, and the portions were really big. I weigh 210, and i'm generally a big guy, so i ordered a "double chicken gyro pita". It comes with a greek salad (most authentic, best greek salad i've ever had), 2 gyros and a choice of side (potatoes, rice or fries). I made a mistake. i should have just got one gyro. I couldn't get through all the food. Half of my side was left, one whole gyro was untouched, and yeah...i have lunch for tomorrow. The meal was excellent, well beyond expectation. Then came the greek dancer. She was amazing. Very pretty, and obviously well practiced at the dancing. She was interacting with the patrons and asked my wife to dance (she was holding her gyro at the time, so she said no). The music is a bit loud during this time, but it adds to the atmosphere, definatly doesn't take away from it. Great choice overall, i highly recommend this place!

Disappointing Experience

I've been here many a times and have always had a positive experience. Last night (Sunday), I took my parents here for their first time. It was busy but we were happy to wait for a table. Once seated, the music was turned up and we were treated with some live dancing. This didn't bother us at all, but when our server tried to take our order, I had a hard time communicating with him. Since he wasn't writing anything down and we kept yelling across the table, I even asked him at the end if he got everything. He nodded yes. I was a little skeptical, but gave him the benefit of the doubt. The salads, pita with olive spread & fries started to come out not long afterwards but our appetizer plate of grilled calamari never arrived. Then our gyro dinner plates arrived and we somehow ended up with 6 gyros and we were missing our combination meat plate. When I asked about the mix-up and where our grilled calamari plate was, he said, "Oh, the calamari hasn't arrived yet?" He came back later with fried calamari and I told him that I had ordered grilled calamari. He then proceeded to take it back to the grill area where he was told that they had no "grilled calamari" and asked if we wanted the fried version. Not wanting to make a bigger fuss, we just accepted the plate. Our combination meat platter still hadn't arrived yet and so 3 of us were halfway done our dinner, while one of was still waiting. When the meat platter did arrive, the comments were that the meat was just very dry and tasteless. And to top it all off, my chicken gyro had an olive PIT in it and I nearly chipped my tooth when I bit into it! Not very pleasant. It's unfortunate that this had to happen when I went out with my parents, but I still do really enjoy their gyros as it totally brings me back to my trip to Greece. And I do love their salad and fries. I was disappointed with their service. I think I'll stick to takeout here.

In short: Great value for good amount and quality of food! The Greek Salad and the French Fries (coin fries) are unbelievable and just those two dishes alone that comes with the dinner could make you full already! By far the best gyro place that I've been to in the city!

I visited them a few time by now and I've never been dissapointed! Ok there is usualy a line but I have to admit that it's well worth the wait! The whole staff is very friendly and fast even considering that it is allways very busy! I usualy go for the gyro in a pita and fries which is a blast. this time I had bifteki (ground meat stuffed with feta cheese). The "dinner plates" come with a choise of salad and (plain) fries. I decided to go for the greek fries which are topped with feta cheese. Well the whole meal was awsome and acctually too much for me as the salad is acctualy almost a whole meal! the taste is fresly grilled and authentic too. The only little complain I have is when the side dishes are coming a bit before the meal itself and tend to get cold. But that happens not rather rare so I won't deduct points for that :) Well the prices are aslo very reasonable and I think very cheap. I think one gets an excelent deal! If you like greek food and not just pita give it a try. It will be well worth it!

The gyro dinner for two is not only amazing but they are awesome about substituting the normal fries for greek fries which are amazing with feta melted on top. Trademark is that the servers remember your whole order even if the party is up to 10. Best gyro I have had since Athens!

Absolutely the best gyros in Toronto. I've been coming here for a while now...nothing touches it. They put fries in the gyros, just like in Greece! Service...well...could be better ? especially during dinner. But once the food arrives, you soon forget the slow waiter.
