DreamYogaDance is a warm and inclusive studio offering dreamwork, yoga, group dance, workshops, meditation and more. The story of founder Julia Ray is one that includes a transition from corporate life in an office building to an open space where dreams are realized. Since quitting a project management position in 2001 and gaining years of experience as a yoga and movement teacher, Julia has created a business whose name incorporates the three practices she loves: dreamwork, yoga and dance.
Julia started working with her dreams while she was still working as a project manager. Assessing and analyzing her nightly visions was both therapeutic and proactive, eventually leading her to realize that she felt stuck in her work. Today, Julia is still making visits to her dreamworker. “It’s so illuminating, always, and it’s been almost two decades that I’ve been working on my dreams," she says. "It’s transformed me exponentially. I would not be the person that I am without it.”
Today, Julia guides clients at DreamYogaDance through their own dreamwork sessions on a one-on-one basis and in group workshops. She explains that to begin assessing your dreams, you must learn to remember them. “Sometimes people will remember a past dream. I’ll ask them to work with that dream and then after that, it’s like opening a doorway to another part of themselves," she says. "They start getting dreams all over the place because there’s a part of them that knows that they’re now listening.”
She suggests that her clients record their dreams and to simply be open to having them, to set the intention at night to dream. Dreamwork can then begin — each dream is a gem, according to Julia, ready to divulge something new.
