First experience here was great. I'm big on pasta and a friend told me to try theirs. I left full, satisfied and it felt like I was invited to someone's home more than a restaurant. Very friendly staff and I can't wait to come back and try more dishes.
My wife and I received a gift card and had heard good things about this restaurant. We decided to drop in around 8pm on a Wednesday night. We stood in the entry way and waived at a server. After ten minutes of waiting to be seated we just left. Nobody had the courtesy to come over? I've heard they can be busy and that you need reservations but ignoring us made us feel like we weren't welcomed. It's unfortunate that I have to write a negative review, but having the courtesy to even say "we are too busy to take you now" wouldn't have been a big deal. Hopefully waiting for the food to come out isn't as painfully long as trying to get a seat.
This is by far the best Italian food in the city. Only issue is the young Italian servers don't take their job very seriously. Server had open shirt, provided little assistance with wine pairing, and used inappropriate language. Also too bad it's in a shady locations, but the food overcomes all this.
best place in sudbury i only eat there when i go out to eat. good place to have a romantic date or just a night with the girls i love this place... eating there with the husband tonight!!
Great service, AMAZING food, very expensive.
PERFECTION!!!! A wonderful dining experience. Everything was excellent and prepared exactly as requested. Service was no where near as bad as others have suggested, great food takes time to prepare. No issues with reservation.
The food is soooo fresh, authentic Italian and the ingredients are what make the difference. I had issues making reservations for my husband and I.. the person who answered the phone seemed very confused as if I had dialed the wrong # and he had never heard of a reservation before. I asked for a table for 2 at 5:30 and he said "How about 7:00pm??" and I hesitated but said yes although it was much later than I had wanted. We showed up earlier than the reservation (6pm) and there was hardly anyone there!? I don't see why I would have had to wait until 7!? We were seated right away and I don't even know if a reservation was needed? Strange. Any way, the food is unbelievable. Made to order, very hot and the flavours were like none other. Their pizza is crazy delicious, Fabulous food, below average staff but a MUST try.
What a gong show. I have never had a reservation experience like that in my life. Completely disorganized staff. I called to confirm my reservation, everyone started freaking out because they couldn't find it, then they said "sorry, bye". No offer of a table at a different time, nothing. This is the 3rd time I have had a conflict with this restaurant. Food is alright but they are terribly disorganized.
We returned to Bella Vita Cucina for another great food experience. The service was always present with the entire staff helping to offer pepper, remove plates and bring coffee. Being Saturday night, even the 5 PM sitting was full. The bruschetta appetizer was good, and the three plates with pork tenderloin, veal scallopini and salmon with shrimp were excellent. We shared one desert, a tiramisu and it was also excellent.
Been to this restaurant about three times so far, have never been disappointed. The service and atmosphere I would say are about average, and consistent, some people complain about the area, but I believe it adds to the charm and gives the restaurant a personal feeling, like you've found a hidden gem in the city. The pizza is probably the most authentic and close to Italian you can find anywhere around here, and every appetizer or other dish I've ordered has been meticulously prepared, and perfectly dressed/ seasoned. For this caliber of food I would expect to pay more. This is a great restaurant for a casual, enjoyable night out, I wouldn't recomend it to someone looking for a formal uptight fine dining experience however, I believe that's where people get mislead.
This is my favorite restaurant. It truly is authentic Italian cuisine. The prices are fair, the food is divine and the servers are wonderful. I have ordered almost everything off the menu and have yet to be disappointed.
We had made Bella Vita our "go-to" place for special occasions - New Years Eve dinner, Mothers Day....but was bitterly disappointed on Mothers Day. The place was crowded (evening reservations) and a family had their young child disrupting and fussing through the whole meal. It was so loud, I could barely carry on a conversation across the table to my own daughters. We had spent a lot of money on the dinner portion and had intended on making an evening of it but we cut it short because of the noise level. Other patrons were looking towards the offending table also, not just us. We felt it was management's place to have said something. Yes, it WAS Mother's Day and yes that baby's mom was probably there, but so was I and all the other mothers who were being treated to an evening out albeit an expensive one. I will call ahead next special occasion to find out if there are babies reserved for the same time frame as we are so that we do not experience the same disappointment. Any time my own babies became disruptive in a restaurant, I either socialized them to acceptable behaviour or removed them so as not to put out other restaurant goers. Especially in a higher end establishment and never in the evening.
This was our second visit and we will go for a third. The first visit was excellent, food, service et al. The second visit, well maybe they were a bit rushed, as they were closing for a private party but.... the appetizer was not delivered as requested, "no mushrooms, they had mushrooms" , and the fish stew was delivered as the special of the day - pickerel! They offered to change it "if the chef could do something quick" but I chose to stay with the pickerel. They did disount the meal so we will go back again. The fish stew was excellent and I will try to order it again. I think maybe the server was a little rushed or a maybe just not enough experience.
We had heard only great things about this restaurant, but left disappointed. We chose the specials, assuming they would be fresh and cooked to perfection. The bruschetta was presented on breakfast toast - not something I recall seeing in Italy. The halibut was dry (overcooked) and the accompanying vegetables were nothing more than ordinary. Maybe the standards are slipping. Complacency perhaps?
The food was ok,I was expecting more in way of flavor and presentation. The atmosphere really bothered me, it was very loud in there, bad acoustics. Wouldnt go here for fine dining.
The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Everything tasted homemade, not frozen or canned and the menu had excellent options to choose from. The cheesecake was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The service was great - they didn't bother us while we were eating, removed dirty dishes quickly and they weren't trying to rush us out the door when we finished. It's a good idea to make a reservation - we showed up right after they opened without one and were lucky to get a table. The only problem is the noise when the place fills up - the acoustics are really bad and it got pretty loud. Overall a very enjoyable dining experience and excellent food. We will definitely be returning (with a reservation!)
We were very pleased with our visit - a friend we met last week recommended we try it. We will make this a "regular" on our list of restaurants.
Excellent and can hardly wait to go back . I will being telling all my co-workers. Lunch is also great.
Excellent. Travelled from overseas and wasn't expecting such a great restaurant in such a small town as Sudbury. The service was very friendly and made us feel extremely welcome. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone. Keep up the wonderful work. We are looking forward to visiting again the next time we travel to Canada.
Excellent dining experience! Service outstanding! This restaurant is constantly busy for a reason. We dine out a minimum of three times a week, friendly wait staff. Decor could be better a tad to busy! However, the food makes up for it. Great Job!
