We had a 50th birthday party for my wife. 32 people and not a single complaint. Food and service couldnthave been better.
I goto Cabottos often enough to know that their food is amazing, I always order the amaretto chicken, it comes with a side of Fett Alfredo, perfect combination, the zuqqinni is a must have. For dessert have the zuccato, best I have ever had anywhere!
From the inside out the place serves up an incredible dining experience. Let me start with the atmosphere. This century old Heritage home converted fine dining restaurant delivers a truly private and romantic atmosphere for couples and small parties. The many individual rooms and two floors provide a quiet and peaceful environment. Incredible menu with great variety. Excellent wine selection at fair prices. You wont hesitate to older that second bottle on wine at Cabotto's. Which brings me to the food. I've been to this restaurant 4 times in the last year. Each experience was consistently delicious with a variety of entrees.
Checked the menu online before visiting, extensive and authentic looking.... and that's where my good experience ended. The charming atmosphere was no match for the smallish portion sizes (vs price), inconsistant use of spices and so so service. This restaurant has great potential, but in my opinion they need to improve the quality of the food to justify the prices.
Authentic Italian cuisine! Reservations recommended due to the popularity of this restaurant. Professional service with attention to detail. My only complaint is that it is too dark. In my opinion it is the best Italian restaurant in the west end.
This is my fourth visit to Cabottos. The first time we tried it because it was new. Poor service and a very outdated Italian menu. Not very good. The second visits were because we were given gift cards. Both visits we had the same waiter (better than our first visit) he was good. The food is heavy, over sauced and three times, undercooked potatoes. I think I have had the worst veal marsala ever sickly sweet sauce. Clearly, the cooks don't taste the food. Very underwhelming. Today I was back again, meeting friends. I had hoped it would be better at lunch. No such luck. This time we had a disorganized server. There were two tables, ours and another. She took our orders several minutes (10? 15?) after the other table. We did hear the server rattling around the back room. I don't know how she forgot about us. Again, the food was underwhelming. I had the Chicken with a creme pesto sauce. Lots of goopy sauce, tiny piece of chicken. The menu needs a serious revamp. The building has always been great, but they have the same grubby carpets and ugly net curtains that have been there for a couple decades (from Kemp Steakhouse & Chequers days). Mismatched plates. This place is a bit of a mess and is in dire need of a restaurant makeover.
