Great place, great drinks, great food. Only a few items on the menu are mediocre. Most of it is delicious. Portions are generous. Some of the bartenders can fix a superb drink, others less so.
The food I tried at Highlander were very good, better than most of the pubs in Byward market area but the quality did falter on certain days.
The reason why I won't be returning to Highlander anymore is because of the service you get.
I went to Highlander about 3-4 times and every time I went, the servers never once smiled or reply me when I said "thank you".
Although I never expect high/friendly service from a pub I never want a static and emotionless service.
It's too bad really, I thought I found a really good pub to go to every weekend.
Really love the atmosphere in this place. I came...
Really love the atmosphere in this place. I came in on a friday after work and it was very lively. Ordered some drinks and a chicken wrap. Great location, will return.
nice little place with like 200 different types of scotch. drank beer instead, it was pretty good but not really my style. the waitress was very nice (kristina), polite, and prompt. mashed potatoes were lumpy, but in a good way, if that makes sense. french fries were overdone though, and chicken was a little on the dry side. but the dish was very well constructed and displayed. veggie wrap was "very good." most of the people there were middle aged men in sweaters, and for some reason they had NFL on tv rather than soccer, which is kind of odd for a place that puts so much effort into marketing itself as scottish.
