When it came time for Michele Brunet to retire from her career with the RCMP, she turned to her part-time work at the Unwind Yarn House, then owned by Wendy Russell who opened the business in 2005. Serendipitously, Wendy was looking to sell the shop around that time. “She asked me if I wanted to buy the store,” Michele recalls. “It just seemed kind of obvious. Why would I say no?” Michele took over the reins of Unwind in 2012 and hasn’t looked back since. “It’s actually more work than being a police officer,” she confesses. “You don’t really get time off, but it’s still fun,” Michele says with a laugh.
