Too much attitude, too little quality
waiter doesn't understand proper english, bad service and to much attitude, the salmon sashimi was warm, i ordered two plates of sushi they give me two pieces. I asked for 10 pieces of fried scallops they give us 25. Lastly hear this out the scallops werent even scallops, they were preserved crab meat fried!!!! GET ME OUT OF THIS PLACE SO BAD!!!!
I went out to dinner with a couple of friends on Saturday and this is the first time I went for dinner there. I have been here for lunch but for the bento boxes. The AYCE at Akina is not that great. The white tuna was horrible, it came out mostly frozen and we didn't want to eat it. When we told one of the waitressed they ignored us and wouldn't take it away. It eventually thawed and we had to eat because we didn't want to get charged for wasting food. Also, we ordered beef sashimi and it never showed up. If you don't have it, then don't put on the menu! Another thing that happened was that happened was a friend came late and he couldn't eat seafood so he ordered 10 beeff skewers and they gave him a funny look. Then he came back and said last call so he ended up ordered 20 more beef skewers and they gave him dirty looks and were like shocked. All of the waiters and waitresses were looking at him. He's a grown man he can eat a lot. Overall, I would not come back to this place for dinner or AYCE.
SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. service ratings deserve a ' - 10 ' food is decent The owner of the place and the waitresses have the worst attitude possible. First, orders are always missed or cut to the minimal, so you'd have to constantly reorder the food again. Second, if they spill water over you, they dont even apologize nicely, doesnt even give napkins for you to clean it up unless requested. Third, one of the rib orders was very salty one time, the owner would be like 'DONT ORDER IT THEN'. *Very rude manner* One time, the waitress was angry at us because she made a mistake listening to our order and we told her to fix it. So she thought of a way to get back at us. Some of the food still hasnt come yet, so we asked her to check on it. So she said we ordered the food after the 'last call' BUT we clearly ordered way before it and she missed the order. So during an argument with her the missing food came. So she was very embarassed and still tried to argue through. I use to like this place because food is decent, but after many chances I gave this place. THE ATTITUDE OF THE PEOPLE THERE GET WORST AND WORST. SO I WILL NOT COME HERE EVER AGAIN. I WAS SO FRUSTRATED THAT I CREATED AN ACCOUNT TO WRITE THIS REVIEW. I AM SERIOUS. IF YOU ENJOY FRUSTRATING DINNERS THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU.
don't listen to people that complain about some people in their group not being big eaters and complaining about sitting at separate tables, because they don't want to pay for all you can eat and get separate dishes for some. all you can eat is $11 at lunch, the smallest thing on the menu is around $8, whats $3 more dollars per person. They also don't understand all you can eat. Most all you can eat restaurants wont allow it because quite frankly people cheat. I've been there more than a few times. I was there with my parents. I told them my mother will take a bento box, they said she has to sit at another table, with a little quick thinking, I told the waitress that we are reliable and honest people and we will not break their rules and if it was okay for my mother to sit at the same table and they said that would be fine and we stuck to our word. On that note you don't come to an all you can eat place if you don't want all you can eat. The Menu is amazing, I've been there a dozen times and still haven't had everything on the menu. If you like Unagi (Eel sushi) which is usually expensive, you can get all you can eat. Try the fried fish, its actually Black Cod which is a delightful sweet tasting fish. They have cooked stuff if raw is not palatable. The Garlic Beef skewers are amazing. Rule #1 of buffet eating try to stay away from rice and noodles, its going to fill you up quick. The beef roll is exquisite. I found the service there to be exemplary considering there is only 2 sushi chefs and the place is usually packed. Most of the staff speak little English so sometimes they might mix up orders but its not big deal, they correct it. The best thing to do is tell them the ITEM# not the ITEM name. You try to learn another language and see how well you do... They include 10% gratuity on the bill so you don't have to tip but usually we leave a little more because minimum tip anywhere else is 15%. Don't waste food. Some people will go there and order sushi and not eat the rice, its called sashimi people order sashimi not sushi if you are not going to eat the rice, its wasteful, there are African children starving and would love rice, don't complain about being charged for half eaten food. if you order it you should eat it. I took my family from the USA there and they are used to eating all sorts of food because New York is the food capital and for their stay in Canada they went back 3 more times. Its the best all you can eat place i have been to.
BEST ALL YOU CAN EAT JAPANESE BUFFET! the fish was very fresh unlike other buffets i've tried. this place is really worth your money! they also have a different variety of foods you can try as well which are all very good! service was not too bad since i didn't go on a weekend so over all it was a great dinner experience. anytime i'm craving for sushi, i will come here!
I heard about Akina from a friend and was Google-ing the directions to the restaurant when I found these reviews. Some of them said that Akina was the best they'd ever had, but others spoke so lowly of it that I was really worried. I still went though, because I like to try new things. ANYWAYS, the food was really good. The service was fast; we ordered what we wanted and after we placed our order, the dishes just kept coming and coming, faster than we could finish them. When we first sat down the table hadn't been wiped down yet, but once the waitress came to give us our utensils, napkins and tea she noticed right away and we didn't even have to say anything. The one thing though that I want to add (and I might sound cheap for saying it) is that our total came to $29.50. We paid $30 cash and waited after the waitress came to pick it up to get our $0.50 back. The tips are already included in the bill, so technically speaking we should have got change. That they assumed that we didn't want it back is the point that kind of ticks me off. Even if it was only $0.50, it shouldn't have been assumed. Overall, it was good, but it was only my first time. Who know what'll happen next time.
We went for an after work dinner. It was busy because the variety of food they offered, i don't blame them that you have to wait. After we were seated, we ordered right away and it was fast. We finished quickly and we waived a waitress over and she took our order right away. Again, they delivered within minutes. Unlimited Pop. Sashimi is fresh and delicious. We loved the beef with green onions or beef with mushrooms. Shrimp tempura: i think we ate the whole kitchen. We have been to a lot of All-U-Can-Eat but this is the top of the list. We will come back again and again. Don't believe bad service. Servers to tables are tops!
Despite some negative reviews, I took my chances and tried this place out. I went on a Monday night and it wasn't that busy (about 12 other tables). I found the server to patron ratio to be very high. We got our food orders right away and portions amazing. All the food was fresh and I was able to request for specific portion sizes given that we were only 2 people. I found they paid attention to small details and the menu had an abundance of variety.
A lot of ppl are pretty stubborn when it comes to all you can eat sushi places. Like calpico said, order as much as you can in as few orders as possible. Waiters can't tend to each party constantly, if you order small portions. Imagine having 5 waiters and 30 parties...now each party orders only 2 things each time...wonder why the service seems so bad... With that in mind, what i found to be the best for me and my party is to order every possible dish that we want in the first order...basically, we are trying to get full on our first order. Judge your appetite, and if you are still hungry...order more when the last of your dishes have arrived. This ensures that you have a waiter ready to take your order. Now that you know how to order from a japanese all you can eat restaurant...you will actually see that the service is actually excellent. Love the food, love the variety, love the service.
Seriously, I absolutely love going to Japanese buffets. All I care about is the food - whether it''s good or not. I don''t necessarily care too much about the service as long as my tummy is satisfied. The thing is, this restaurant''s food is absolutely amazing - from the gyoza to the unagi sushi. BUT don''t go there if you hate slow service, or from time to time, the lost of your order. It is annoying, but personally, I don''t care. I hate it when people complain when eating. Just don''t go there again if you don''t like it. That''s all I''m saying. So, if you''re like me (which is all about the food), then go.
Majority of the food was good but i believe the only thing that's stopping this restaurant from being on top is their service. So terrible. They lose your orders, they don't give you all of your orders so you'll have to order it again or more times to finally get it. Sometimes it takes forever to get your food as well. The waiters don't come to you, you have to call them over...which is a hassle cause you'll have to always keep your eyes on the look out. Just watching them walk around aimlessly does make you feel important. So, overall the food is pretty good but the service...wow, just no.
This is the first time I have ever been to Akina, an we came because of a good review. My boyfriend and I, along with another couple came for dinner. They seated us quickly, but took FOREVER to come take out order. We ordered 4 spider maki (24 pieces) along with other things. The waiter looked at us in disbelief and when our order came, it was half of what we ordered. That is fine. But it took over an hour for our drinks to arrive. And they only came after we asked for them 3 times. The next time that we ordered, we specifically told the waitress that she should give us what we ordered, we would even pay $5 for every piece that we couldn't finish (the stated rate is $1 a piece). While she was taking our order, she was OBVIOUSLY skipping items, all the while, rolling her eyes. At this point, my friend had had enough, she went up to the manager and told her about the horrible experience we had. The manager assured us that our order would go through and apologized. We waited for another 45 minutes, while other ppls food came to our table (we ate it anyway) and none of our ordered food came. The manager even checked and said that the rolls were being made. We gave up and left after over 2 hours of waiting around. We went to the manager again, and told her we would not be back, that she should train her wait staff to be more courteous and to give ppl what they should order. She apologized again, and told us our order had been lost. This place is completely unacceptable. (On a side note, did anyone argue with her in Cantonese, it might have helped?) Shouldn't they want people to eat more, so they can charge for extras?
This place was horrible! We ordered our first round of food and not all our dishes showed. Then we ordered our second round. Even less showed up, we got another tables fried scallops, which we ate because we were too hungry! We waited 20 minutes for our second round of dishes to show, only 1/4 showed up. We were then told that it was our "last call". This was when we asked the waiter to check to see if anything was coming. Nope, our order had been lost. So we ordered again and the waiter guaranteed we'd get our order. We reordered over 50 sushi pieces for seven people and less than 1/4 was served. Again, we were told it was our last call, so we asked if our other dishes were coming, and again they said they lost our order. Once more, a waitress took our order and guaranteed we'd get it. So we reordered the over 50 sushi pieces, and the waiter and sushi bar people starting giving us bad glares. Then a seafood friend rice dish came our way. We told them it wasn't ours and they took it away with disbelief. Finally the sushi bar man came to our table to confirm our order of 54 sushi pieces. He said he didn't want us to waste food. We told them, as seven people we would be able to finish our dish, as we didn't receive our orders previously and were still HUNGRY! Then the manager/boss came and threatened to charge us for the seafood fried rice. We finally got our 54 pieces of suishi and ate them all but weren't allowed to order anything else from the bar. Instead we tried to fill ourselves up with 16 bowls of ice creams. We overhead another table next to us was getting too many dishes, and they were 3 people. We saw they had tones of rolls sitting there, probably OURS! The entire time the manager/boss gave us the ugliest stare all the way from the back of the room. She just stood there, not blinking! We left, not satisfied and not completely full. We waited so long between servings that I went to the washroom 5 times.
Been here a few times. Food is just exceptional. Service is incredibly slow. They need more waiters and increased efficiency. We ordered Beef Sashimi, we had to ask for it TWICE. When it finally came, it wasn't even thawed out properly.
We were treated like garbage. I will never ever go back. We got yelled at like children for not finishing our plates and the waitress refused to bring us our spider roll because we didn't finish all the rice. My co-worker's on a special cleanse and can't eat rice...so for once (we've been there a lot) he ate the seafood and left the rice. Can you imagine being told by a waitress that you can't have what you ordered (and are paying for I might add) because you didn't finish your rice? Service is always horrendous but this time it's just too much. It was embarrasing as all the other tables heard this and were staring at us. I'll never go back to any Akina restaurants again EVER.
we at here with my brother, his wife and my two friends. the food we ordered were okay. although the service was horrible. the last orders we made were for ice-cream. when the waitress came back...she had changed our order without even asing us. instead of vanilla ice cream...she gave us ginger. and none of us were able to eat it. infact on of my friends is even allergic to ginger... and worst of all they didnt do anything about it. no apology, no replacement ice creams for the whole table, nothing! i wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. the service would ruin your whole experience.
The food was great...but he service was a bit messy but overall everything was great...i would definetely recommend this place to everyone and i would defineltely come again:DD
Service was great it was busy that day but we still got great service. Food was coming out pretty quick too. Taste great.
We 've been here umpteen times..and we likes it!..also manager was very courteous...and oh yeah today they made us shift to another table whilst we were savoring our nourishment....but it's all good...we're accomodating ppl not like those 2 idiots up there...i give it 100 out of 10 stars...please just you visit!
