The Kingston Standard Church dates back to 1918, and Reverend J.G. Nussey. Reverend Nussey pitched a tent in what is now known as McBurney park to hold revival services. Soon after, these services gave birth to the Kingston Standard society, and on October 14, 1918, to the Kingston Standard Church. The newly formed congregation purchased its first property, a house at 66 Main St., in 1919. After renovation, the house was sold. The congregation erected a traditional church building on Barrie Street in 1926, and held a dedication service on February 13, 1927. By the late 1960's, Sunday school and parking space had become limited, so the church was relocated to the corner of Sydenham and Sunnyside Rd. - our present location. Dedication of the new building occurred on June 22, 1975. Since opening the new building, our congregation has more than doubled in size.more...See more text
