i was there couple weeks ago, we had the "weekly special", the chicken Valdostano?? the marsala mushroom sauce was very tasty and different, and the amount of food was amazing, it literally fill the entire plate. the service was really nice we got our food right away, we are planning to go back again.
i went there couple weeks ago, and my friends and i had couple of apps, they wr over price and also the taste was horrible..... rice balls, no flavor taste frozen and for sure they r not made on the house.. brushetta 17$ for a hard bread with salty mix of tomatoes clams, horrible a nasty slamy puree listen if you dont belive it go nd try it, b my guest
I went there with a friend, although the parking was not great, it never is. We were able to get a spot on the street. There was no line up which is a first for me. Always had to wait. . The service was very friendly. I found the food to be nothing spectacular. The bruschetta could have used a bit more cheese to keep the bruschetta from falling off the bread. The pizza (small) was ...ok and my friend had a glass of wine. I was surprised by the $50.00 charge. I've been to Chicago Style Pizza and gotten the same order with a stuffed pizza instead of a regular and paid 25-30 dollars. Definitely not worth the money for what I got. Probably won't be going back.
I dined at maccheronis for the first time this Mother`s Day. The food was one of the best meals I`ve had on a very long time. I was extremly impressed with our server. I dine out alot and have become kind of a snob when it comes to the whole experience. This young girl was impressive we had a party of nine, with substutions and all the headache that comes long with serving a large party. The girl, whom I am really upset I didnt get her name, didnt write down a thing. Everybody got what they ordered and she was just so friendly. Its just so nice to see someone her age taking pride in what they do. I`m planning on comming back this summer, in hopes we get her again. Well im also going back for the seafood pasta because it was to die for. Definatly worth a try!
I visited Maccheroni for pizza and beers last week and I was not disappointed. We ordered a large bruschetta with feta to start which was excellent. One of my friends ordered the stuffed mushrooms, which he also enjoyed. For the main course, we ordered 2 pizzas. One large with just sausage and the other one was a small with hot peppers, green olives and pepperoni. Both pizzas were excellent. My only recommendation is to not overload the toppings, as they put quite a few on. While the pizza was more expensive than your typical chain pizza place, it was also much better. I don’t order pizza all the time, so when I do, it will be from Maccheroni’s. Spend the extra $6-8 and get a quality pizza from here… don’t be a cheapo with no class and go to pizza pizza. We didn’t have dessert, so I can’t comment on that aspect of the menu. Overall, highly recommended! They serve Peroni beer too!!!
It is an odd little place in Main West, to be honest I had never seen it before until I ate there last week and I have been frequenting the area for years......the service was very warm and friendly and the atmosphere the same, old and very wannabe italian. Our food was very tasty, you gotta try the garlic bread, the choice of bread they use is very crispy. I would like to go back and try other things on the menu, the prices were reasonable and the choices sound interesting.
WAY too expensive now!!! We have been to this location many times before and had not been in quite some time. After a craving for their amazing bruschetta bread we decided to pay a visit. They used to have some side pasta dishes and we were disappointed that they were no longer available since we had my 2 year old daughter with us. Her basic spaghetti was not large by any means and cost $10.95! I also ordered her a milk (half chocolate) that was gross and made with Quick syrup or powder needless to day she did not drink it and that was $2.75. That is fine as they clearly do not cater to children but the kicker came with our bruschetta. We ordered the full order which is $10.95 and added cheese, feta on one half and mozzarella on the other. The bread toppings were very skimpy from what we remembered and when the bill came were rather surprised that we were charged $2.00 for the mozza chesse and an additional $3.00 for the feta!!! $15.95 in total for bruschetta is ridiculous especially when the toppings were minimal.
IS THIS PLACE A JOKE???? I heard a couple of good things about this place so my boyfriend and I thought we would check it out....we weren't sure of the location so we called on our way there and the female we spoke to gave us directions and also told us that they just did a lot of renovations and that there are 2 parts to the restaurant-the front is the bar area and the back is the more formal dining area. When we arrived and walked in the front door it was like a ghost town. NO ONE around...(well, actually there were 2 people in the corner) but no staff members to be seen. The place looked indescribably bad!! The hardwood floors looked like they had never seen a mop, and horses ran through there on a daily basis. The furniture was sooo old and the room was very dark. Before a staff member could even greet us, we were out the door. On our way out, we noticed a side enterance so we thought to go in there because after all, the lady on the phone said they did all these renovations but we couldn't figure out where. We walked in from the side enterance and we couldn't believe it-the front part was bad but this was EVEN WORSE!!!!!!! we looked in the dining area and the furniture looked like it came from a third world country...several chairs were ripped (the back part of the chair was made of a mesh material), the floors were even worse (it looked liked horses running through the front room) but this was like bulls were running through the back...I honestly couldn't believe my eyes! I looked at my boyfriend and seriously asked if this was a joke? While standing there in awe, there was still no staff member to be seen so we left!!! If the staff member was being truthful when she said they just did a lot of renovations, then I would really be HORRIFIED to see what it looked like before. If they ever decide to change the restaurants name, they should call it "The Sanford and Son Junkyard Cucina".
This is a great little place. Their bruschetta is to die for, the best I have ever had in a restaurant. The restaurant has a good atmosphere, service is always very friendly!
I have been to Maccheroni several times over the past few years and I have always been happy with the dining experience. To begin with it has the best bruschetta I have every had. The ceasar salad is good, but nothing special. The most recent time I went, I had the seafood spaghettini, which was excellent. Lots of high quality seafood (they could have left out the squid in my case). My wife's chicken parm was also excellent. My daughter's penne dish was disappointing. It was advertised as having chorizo sausage, but that was not what was in it. Suffice to say that the dish needs some work. We finished with excellent gelato. I will agree that the service can be a bit uneven depending on who your waiter is. This time our waiter was perfect: attentive, friendly, and remembered all the orders. An earlier review said the decor is run down. I don't find that at all, it is rustic, but clean and intimate. For the price, I find it to be the best Italian restaurant in Hamilton.
On a Friday night after a short and acceptable wait we were ushered to our table, where we are greeted by a perky Fran Dresher look alike with a less annoying voice in all honesty. She was very attentive to our needs in trying to decide what to eat she told us of the specials, but we decided to pass not a fan of osso bucco. We ordered our drinks and after a few minutes we were enjoying a nice bottle of wine. At first we decided to look at the menu, she said she would give us some time to read it over being that its a new menu. After a few visits to check up on us we decided on a meal. After a reasonably lengthy wait seeing as how busy the restaurant was, we received our appetizers. The stuffed mushrooms were ok, not a huge fan but good none the less, and the salad was refreshing, the seasonings were a little overbearing but the layout was nice to look at, although I'm not a fan of the little glass plates. looking as if bought from a dollar store, a minor set back, all restaurants have to a degree. Our meals were served perfectly not steaming hot just over a warm temperature the way a good Italian meal should be! We dug in like we haven't ate in years! it was simply delectable! Although the Con pollo Aglio is a basic pasta its simplicity made it all the more delightful. My Husbands Stromboli was the same as always but knowing that everything is made in house makes us feel better. The dough is unlike any I've had through basic pizza parlors. I will continue my patronage to a quaint Italian restaurant by the name of Maccheroni cucina Al fresco! In my professional opinion I find this restaurant to be a great restaurant a diamond in the rough.
My boyfriend and i continue to go to Maccheroni's biweekly. We just love it! all of the staff are so friendly and have gotten to know us! The food is always spectacular served hot and fresh! Its without question, my favourite restaurant to go to! Deffinately a great choice!
We went to Maccheroni's b/c we'd heard how supportive and generous they are with the local Ronald McDonald House nearby (serving the families dinner every Wed night). We were amazed at the great service (including a nice chat with the owner) and the food was AMAZING! I haven't had a meal that great in a very long time. I couldn't stop eating my Mediterranean pasta. :) Will definitely go there again when we're visiting Hamilton.
This is a great little authentic restaurant. The pizza is absolutely the best! The server was amazing; however, I find some of the other staff rude sometimes.
I have always loved the food at Mac Roni's, but the service has been terrible the last few time I have been there. The last time, I was meeting my husband after work. He got stuck in traffic and was a little late coming. As a result, the server actually made me move tables from a nice cozy spot in the back to the busy front. I was already embarrassed enough that I was sitting by myself for so long, I didn't need to be moved and add to my embarrassment. I'm not sure if I'll ever go back.
We have visited this restaurant many times (with our young family) and are always pleased with service and food...especially food!! The staff always are so pleasant and make great suggestions, as well as accomodating our young children. This last visit was excellent as usual. Food is always so fresh, vegetables always cooked to perfection. My favourite dish has been the lamb, and risotto. The pizza is the best we've had anywhere, and the portions for the chicken cacciatora were amazing and so delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant. We live out of Hamilton now, but will come back anytime for a beautiful meal. This restaurant is a gem!
I have visited Maccheroni's many times in the past & enjoyed the food & the atmosphere. Unfortunately after my visit today I will never again eat there. I ordered Seafood Pasta & my wife ordered Pasta with vegtables & chicken thighs. My seafood pasta was good but my wife did not like the texture of the skin on the chicken thighs. It looked like the chicken was fully cooked then raw skin put back on top. It looked disgusting. When my wife tried to return the dish the owner himself said to us "No one has complained before! Just pull of the skin & eat it." This is not a very intelligent thing to say when you make a living in the food industry. I voiced my displeasue then for the first time in my life I payed the bill & walked out without finishing my meal. My wife was unhappy with her meal & should have been taken care of. The only positive I can get out of this is if someone were to read this and not visit his resturant. He does not deserve your money.
The food was fabulous. They have the cutest patio. We really enjoyed ourselves, the waitress was a sweetheart. She made great recomandations and was really attentive. Im glad I decided to take a chance and try this hidden treasure.
We dined on the patio off to the side/back of the building. It was quite nice and not a lot of traffic noise even with being so close to the road. The food was quite good, although the service was extremely slow. The waitress was stretched too thin (I think she was the only one serving in the whole place). Also, I called for dinner reservations later in the week. I presume it was the manager I spoke with. He was not overly pleasant to deal with. For a restaurant I would expect a friendlier conversation when I call! Based on other comments and my personal experience, I may consider another place to dine. I'm dissappointed; it was much better before the new management.
I have eaten here before it changed ownership and name. its great! but i called recently and talked to the new manager about doing a group deal. He was very rude to me, lectured me about paying taxes (which apparently was my fault), hassled me where the money was coming from to pay for the meal. After I hung up i felt like i has just been scolded. It sucks though because the the food is good.
