We have eaten at this gorgeous restaurant several times. Never disappoints. The food is exceptional. Great service and pricing.
When calling for reservation wanted eight told to come at eight thirty. But it wasnt explained to me that the kitchen closed at nine. Mistake number one late for reservation it was my friends special Bday. The waitress was nice enough the food not too warm but when she finally came over I explained my fish was over cooked alway so it was nearly white in colour I had the salmon she did nothing recompense this. I did not want to push this as it was a celebration of Birthdays.
We visited Bistro 238 for the first time last night and had a great experience! The service, the food and the atmosphere were fantastic. We will most certainly be visiting again and telling more people about this find!
I'm a chef and I cook a lot of the things on this menu. The wild mushroom Risotto was spot on. The meat was cooked to perfection. The mashed was a little watery for my liking, but nobody is perfect. The dessert... oh the dessert! Simply delicious. It's about time I found a restaurant where they have a passion for what they prepare and serve.
What a wonderful meal!! Lovely atemosphere and fantastic food! Wine is so inexspensive. What a treat! The Bistro was very busy with pasta night (Thursday's) but we decided to splurg and have our favorites. Steak and Chicken! The prices are very fare, the service is efficient and fast, but with a dainty bistro flare to it! Phylo wrapped cheesecake was a dream!! absolutley reccomend for a nice evening out, or a celebration night out too!
Heard we were going to Bistro 238 for my Mother's birthday an my anniversary. The reviews looked good so I was in.What a mistake! This so called creator of food should look for another job. The venue is plane at best but charges high end prices.Forget the venue lets talk about the food.I'm only speaking for 3 of a table of 12.First I ordered as an appetizer. Bruschetta was my choice . This consisted of 5 pieces of melba toast and a mixture on the side. I really didn't want to create my own bruschetta but i guess I had to . Whole lotta fun followed. Have you ever loaded up a piece of melba and tried to take a bite. Well i did and took a bite . One piece of toast turned to five pieces of melba and all my toppings back on the plate. FUN WOW! Say no more on to the main course. I picked Tiger shrimp linguine. How could you go wrong?Tiger shrimp? I got house cat shrimp and spaghetti in a very unsavory sauce. I asked about the spaghetti instead of linguini and was ignored. Now onto my wife's meal . She ordered the salmon. She loves salmon and it truly disappointed. Too salty and over cooked. My son's meal was a chicken dish that should have been priced at 6.99 tops and that's a stretch because the coating , and I quote tasted like BUGLES . For those of you who aren't familiar with BUGLES it's a very salty snack food in a box about 2 bucks add the chicken I'm not far off.I did hear other complaints at the table but I'll let them voice their opinions and I will never set foot in that place again!
I have dined here on 2 different occasions & have always felt a wonderful ambiance about it from the moment I walked in the door with how friendly everyone that works there is. Love seeing smiling faces! The food has been incredible from the appetizers thru to the dessert. I have found it very relaxing each time & love their menu & wine selection. One thing that would be incredible in that kind of setting would for there to be a live jazz player maybe playing softly on sat nights as a treat! The ambiance there is perfect for it! I will always enjoy going there. :-) thanx for a great place in courtice!
Came back for a repeat visit and any criticisims on a prior visit evaporated. The dead bush has been removed from the entranceway but lovely flowers remain. In addition to the regular lunch menu there appeared an extra menu of worthy summer salads as well to round out the choices. The cauliflower and cheddar soup had heft and staying power but was not on the too heavy side at all. The Caesar salad was truly wonderful..........a rich garlicy dressing with fresh grated Parmesan cheese on top from a real bar of Parmesan cheese, not the powdered type, accompanied a delicious smoked salmon croissant sandwich with fresh English cucumber slices and just the right amount of dark green lettuce and a great dressing inside. The chocolate truffle cake was so fresh and to 'die for'..........a great way to wrap up a delicious lunch. We four will definitely come back again........and again... for another meal like the one we enjoyed last Wednesday.
