Networking is the name of the game at The Bees Knees — be it as a consignor posting details on Facebook about a quality toy they want to sell or a customer dropping by the store with a face-to-face request for a high chair. The consignment store is a buzzing hub for the local kids and maternity community. “Just yesterday we posted details about a stroller that had just come in,” says co-owner Sandra Kalloo. “A customer got in touch right away to tell us that she had been looking for that exact stroller and would come in and pick it up.”
Sandra and business partner Jessica took over the store in 2014 after being customers for several years. As moms, they know exactly what kinds of products their customers are keeping an eye out for. “If someone is looking for something. we will do our best to find it for them,” says Jessica. “We have hundreds of consigners now, so we’ll find it and bring it to the store. We also only sell brand names, so the quality is there.”
