On the surface, there is nothing special about Michael's, until you sit down. The staff is quick and courteous. The food isn't the greatest, but it is very good. It is a place I regularly go to on weekends for breakfast, and I will continue to go there.
We came here for lunch. This is a very basic looking diner, not a particularly nice atmosphere unless your just going for a very casual meal but it is clean and the service is fast and polite. The food portions are massive, none of us could finish any of our meals completely and they are very cheap considering, our bills came to just over $50 for 4 of us including drinks. The menu is basic and nothing special or unique from any other diner but the food was pretty good. Would like to try the breakfast menu next time as per other reviewers recommendations.
I was craving pancakes from the weekend before and knew I would be in the area. I was not disappointed! They were done better than I've had them in a long, long time: light and fluffy on the inside, while the outside has a bit of crispness. They held the syrup very well too!
This will be the benchmark for pancakes I try at any other place from now on!
Michael's is by far the best place in Durham if you want a nice big breakfast. My husband and I go every second Sunday and have never, not even once, been unsatisfied with the food or service. Cannot say enough good about this place!!!!!
Michael's Eatery is a great place - I've been there many, many times for both breakfast & lunch! Have taken lots of friends & family there and they have all gone back again!
