As a young girl, Nancy Holt grew up destined to work in fashion, whether she knew it or not. Her mother, a talented seamstress, taught sewing classes and made a lot of Nancy's clothes — not to mention her sister's wedding gown and bridesmaid's dresses. Her father was a master upholsterer whose craftsmanship was unparalleled. Inheriting a keen appreciation for textiles and textures it was no surprise that Nancy opened She's Some Kind of Wonderful, a woman's boutique carrying exclusive fashion apparel with high-quality fabrics.
One of her fondest childhood memories, she recalls, was when her father found a bolt of ivory-based multi-coloured fabric and made her mother a coat. "It was fabulous! The fabric was incredible," says Nancy. "I've always loved the feel of fabric. I guess I've always had that in the back of my mind — the combination of my parent's work; it's where this business all started from."
