With a mix of Vietnamese and Thai cuisine, the dishes on the menu are diverse and the dishes are full of flavours of this region. Owned by Victoria and Michael (she is the previous owner of Mekong on the Drive) they have put together a traditional array of dishes with healthy eating in mind.
“I picked up all my cooking from my father, my most important mentor,” says Victoria Tran, owner of Five Elements Café on Commercial Drive. “He taught me that enjoying good food with good family and friends is the most pleasurable experience in life, and I hope that when customers come in they experience that.” Serving up delicious Vietnamese and Thai food made with fresh, healthy ingredients, Five Elements Café has earned its position as one of Commercial Drive’s most popular restaurants.
“Cooking lets me be so creative,” says Victoria with a smile, “bringing originality into a new, healthier way of eating that involves a lot of vegetables and nutritious foods.” Working from traditional recipes she learned from her father, Victoria puts her own modern spin on dishes like pho, Vietnamese submarine sandwiches, spring rolls and noodle bowls. Diners at Five Elements Café love to fill their bellies with hearty portions of Victoria’s nutritious and delicious versions of classic Vietnamese and Thai dishes.
