Who doesn’t love pancakes smothered in whipping cream, waffles swimming in real maple syrup, or savoury eggs Benny drizzled with creamy hollandaise? If you're looking to start your morning on a seriously delicious note, head – or better yet, run – to Jam Café.
Located in a historic building on Beatty Street, the casual daytime eatery opened its doors in mid-2016 and immediately began attracting crowds of hungry diners. The bustling all-day breakfast joint is the brainchild of Jim and Candy Walmsley, along with their good friend Mike Deas-Dawlish. The first Jam Café opened in Victoria and quickly became a huge hit with locals and visitors alike. So the partners decided to branch out into the Vancouver market where Mike calls home.
“Jim and I are both big breakfast guys,” Mike explains. “We always discussed the idea of one day opening up our own restaurant. I was done with the corporate life, so when we got the opportunity to open up in this heritage building, we jumped on it.”

You won't leave here hungry. At 945am on a Sunday we waited 45 minutes for a table. It was worth it. Good selection, good service and very good food. I couldn't help but stare at the sizable portions that went buy. My friend had the 3 little pigs, she loves corn dogs and I had their green eggs and ham on large biscuit. I can't say my dish looked appetizing as my eggs were scrambled with pesto but it was very good and filling and I couldn't finish. Cool atmosphere.

Open now on Beatty Street (in the former Café Medina location no less), the quaint, brick-walled restaurant is sure to attract hungry hordes with seven different eggs Benedict dishes, banana pancakes, thick and fluffy waffles, and its famous Gravy Coupe: chicken and sausage gravy on a buttermilk biscuit with fried eggs and hashbrowns. Yum! Expect long lineups at this buzz-worthy brunch destination.
View this Smart ListStanding in line for brunch is basically a right of passage in this city, but Jam Café is totally worth the stomach-growling wait. The Victoria-based café opened a Vancouver outpost in the spring of 2016, much to the delight of local foodies. Generously sized and unapologetically decadent, these breakfast dishes are the stuff of legends. The sweet-meets-savoury pulled pork pancakes are a hearty way to start your morning; the double-stacked pancakes are layered with juicy pulled pork and topped with maple barbecue glaze, jalapenos, sour cream and pickled cabbage. For something sweeter, the red velvet pancakes are a heavenly choice.
