Black Bear Bar & Grill welcomes you to their steakhouse. Discover a menu offering steaks, priced at over $60. They are situated in an area characterized with parks.
Upon entering the Keg you are encountered with the immediate problem of lighting. There is very little of it.
I began with a garlic shrimp starter. I am not impressed as the dish was expensive compared to the portion offered and overall it left me wanting for taste. I was left wondering how such a simple dish went awry. Little taste, small size, expensive. It was placed in a ridiculous plate where you had to fish out the shrimp from little cups. I have seen these before and never cared for them. I think the purpose may be to distract the diner from noticing how little food shrimp there are.
Regardless, the prime rib made up for the initial dissapointment of what should have been a great dish. It paired very nicely with the horse radish which was good compared to most establishments.
I finished my meal with a blueberry cheesecake. It was a nice pairing and finished well after the prime rib.
The cheesecake was not of overly great quality.
I expected higher quality food and service from the Keg. The price is only justified by reputation and a dark atmosphere.
