We have been making beer and wine for about 3 years now. Having had no experience, we found the owner (Paul) extremely knowledgeable and eager to help. He always keeps us in the loop for new product release or new instructions for processing the kits. Starter kits for both beer and wine are affordable and straight forward.
Product selection is amazing! The Fine Vine definitely keeps up with the limited and special releases so as to have very updated product.

I’ve been making wine & beer for 10-12 years. When I started I dealt with a different well established store in Red Deer. They were OK to deal with but only OK. They didn’t seem like they were were ever truly happy to see you. One time I wanted to make a Shiraz and asked what they had to offer. The staff member took me around the store, showed me 3-4 kits and said this is what we have so pick what you want. If you ask the folks at the Fine Vine, they will tell you what kits they have, why one is more expensive than the other and what these differences mean to the final product. You can then pick a high end product or the least expensive product and know what you’re going to be drinking. They’re just as happy to sell you a $60 kit as a $160 kit, as long as you’re happy. I started out asking a million questions and even now I’ll ask a question that I should really know the answer to, they never talk down to me, they only help. Their selection is extensive; their prices are great and most importantly it’s fun to deal with them.
What a wonderful, friendly atmosphere! Everyone is more than helpful and even encourage refining one's own beer and wine recipe. Very well organized shop with everything easy to see and find. The store itself is also in a convenient shopping area, across from Bower Mall, and is surrounded by many other places to shop at. Great place to visit and purchase supplies!
I visited The Fine Vine recently after I was told by a friend this was the place to go in Red Deer for wine makers. When I entered the store I knew absolutely nothing about wine making, only that I was interesting in learning more. By the time I left, I felt confident in my ability to make my first batch! I got set up with a starter kit and my first wine kit and the staff there were amazing. Even though they were fairly busy, I never felt I was being rushed or that my questions were stupid. I love the fact they have a wine club. I can't wait to taste my first wine! I would highly recommend The Fine Vine to anyone interested in wine (or beer) making :)
