If you need eyewear — and an estimated 64 per cent of us use some form of eyewear — why settle for the same thing everybody else is wearing?
Venus Eye Boutique has about 1,200 unique styles, designed right here in Edmonton by one of the most influential eyewear designers in the country.
Mike Christiansen is the owner of Venue Eye Boutique, and everything in his spa-like eyewear oasis is a Venus design you won’t find at a big-box eyewear retailer.
Mike was going to become an architect. In order to earn his tuition, his mother, an optician, suggested he work for a major Canadian eyewear firm as a salesman. During his visits to optometrists across the province, he began to realize that there was a gap in the market. “Most of the stuff out there is just branded,” says Mike. “Everything was all the same, generic type stuff.”
Based on feedback from clients, Mike sketched out his own design for eyewear. He hand-fabricated a prototype, which got rave reviews from friends and family. “That was a Eureka moment,” says Mike. “There really is a huge market niche out there.”
This is the only place we use for our families eyeglasses. They have a huge selection of beautiful colourful frames for children and adults. They have the best warranty on their frames you can find anywhere. They replaced my kids broken glasses handles and a entire frame that our dog chewed without charging us. They provide excellent customer service and are great at suggesting colour and frames that are the most flattering for your face. Highly recommend this local family run business
The staff has always been very friendly and helpful when we needed to order new glasses or readjust the ones we had. They are kid friendly and offer a great variety of colorful frames that make them stand out in the crowd.
When a small business resorts to blaming the customer they cease to get my business. The front desk person gave me the wrong prescription (computer instead of progressive) after my eye appointment and when I had the progressive glasses made elsewhere they understandably came out wrong. Instead of finding a fair compromise Mike, the owner, basically called me a liar Buyer beware. 14 years of being his customers earned no loyalty from him at all.
