The initial idea came to Brian Flowers while he was drinking with his friends one night, playing some of their favourite games. The idea was simple enough: open a place in Edmonton where people could gather and play their favourite board games but have all the conveniences of a bar. Brian knew the demand for a place to play board games existed in Edmonton, but he wasn’t quite sure how it would look or operate.
“As I looked into it, I found out I wasn’t the first person to have this idea,” says Brian. “I looked into some places in Ontario and in the U.S., but specifically I looked into a place called Snakes and Lattes in Toronto because they set the industry standard.”
Part of that industry standard Brian discovered was that places to play board games worked best in a café setting.
With all the regular amenities of a café, in addition to hundreds of board games to play, this trendy joint is a great place for a Tinder date. At a daily cost of five dollars, the café is a place where you can play a game, share a drink and meet your match without breaking the bank.
