When kindergarten teachers Jasmine Surani and Taz Saleem had their own children, the couple was inspired to step into a new business — children’s shoes. Opening Little Footprints in Aspen Landing in 2009, the pair was able to combine their pre-career retail backgrounds with their love of working with children. And doing so has allowed them to remain hands-on parents to young sons Mika and Eesa who’ve grown up with the store’s whimsical, colourful surroundings.
The self-confessed shoe aficionados got the brainchild to open a store specializing in children’s footwear upon moving home to Canada to raise their firstborn after teaching school in Taiwan. “There was a shortage of good children’s shoes in Calgary,” Jasmine says.
Little Footprints treats kids’ developing feet right. Here children get good old-fashioned service. Clerks measure little feet, feel for those toes and have their wee customers test walk the product. The shop carries the largest selection of children’s shoes from newborn to youth size seven in the city. You’ll find mini brand-name footwear by Ecco, Geox, Kodiak, Bogs, Columbia, Emu, Keen, Sorel, Ugg and more.
Fall is a time of footwear renewal, especially for kids. Carrying shoes for newborns through to youth size seven, shop staff carry out exacting fitting sessions with young clientele. Along with wee casual shoes, the boutique carries rubber boots and school-uniform shoes. Brands include Ecco, Sorel, Robeez, Umi and Stonz.
This shoe boutique makes buying footwear for your little ones a lot easier and a lot less stressful. Good shoes for children, especially those still learning to be steady on their feet, promotes a healthy, active lifestyle. Don’t put their sensitive little toes into shoes that don’t fit perfectly. Have a custom fitting done.
